Australian MP in critical condition, PM 'adamant' attack was not an accident

Security and safety concerns are ramping up for politicians right across Australia. 

MP Helen Haines remains in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car in regional Victoria. 

She was struck while loading her car outside her electorate office in Wangaratta, north-east of Melbourne. 

Our Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters says violence has absolutely no place in politics.
