'It's a start': GPs welcome ACT's proposed healthcare funding boost
GPs hope a $400-million-dollar political pledge results in more competitive pay packets.
The ACT Party is promising the funding boost if elected, which is designed to help practices offer competitive remuneration and retain staff.
It's worth about six percent of GPs budgets.
Royal College of General Practitioners President Dr Luke Bradford says it shines a light on the issues they face right now.
"It's an absolute privilege, looking after people all the way through their life course, and their whole families. But it is a hard sell when, on average, there's a $100,000-per-year pay difference between GPs and hospital doctors."
