All Whites defender Tyler Bindon joins Charlton on season-long loan
All Whites defender Tyler Bindon has joined Charlton Athletic to play in Championship football in England.
Bindon, who played in all three of the All Whites’ World Cup matches this year, has signed on a season-long loan from Premier League side Nottingham Forest, who he joined in 2025 from Reading.
He has not played a first-team match for Forest, where his national captain Chris Wood is the side’s top striker.
Bindon spent last season on loan at Charlton’s Championship rivals Sheffield United, where he made 25 appearances, scoring one goal.
“Obviously we had to be reactive with certain injuries that we had, but Tyler is a player that I’ve known for a long, long time and have tried to sign,” Charlton manager Nathan Jones told the club website.
“He’s a player that will add to us and improve our squad, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Bindon said: “It’s a privilege to be here and I’m excited to get started. The way the gaffer talked aligned with what I want to do and I like the vision of the club. Hopefully I can be a part of that in a positive way.”
The club moved quickly to find a replacement player after their Kenyan defender Collins Sichenje picked up a serious knee injury in a League Cup match against Tottenham last week.
Charlton managing director James Rodwell said: “Tyler is an outstanding young player who has been on our radar for some time. Following the long-term injury to Collins Sichenje last week, we needed to adjust and have moved quickly to secure Tyler’s arrival.”
Charlton are the only side in the Championship to have won all three of their games so far this season.
