New AA survey reveals knowledge gaps impacting Kiwi drivers

The Automobile Association wants optional road code refreshers offered at every licence renewal to address gaps in driver knowledge.
It suggests people opting in could get a renewal discount.
A recent survey shows on average, drivers only correctly answered 68 percent of road rules questions.
AA road safety spokesperson Dylan Thomsen says the consequences of these knowledge gaps could be quite serious.
"When you get it wrong on the roads, the consequences can be people getting hurt, can be vehicles getting damaged, can be insurance costs, panel beating, all of these things - so I think the consequences are a bit more than 70 percent."
