'Positive step': Shane Jones welcomes offshore petroleum permit granted after ban repeal

The Government's granted its first permit to dig for offshore petroleum since reversing the oil and gas ban.
Aussie company EnZed Energy's been awarded a 12-year exploration permit in the offshore Taranaki basin - across roughly 546 square kilometres.
Resources Minister Shane Jones says the gas reserves have declined and this will help bring numbers up.
"This is a group of Aussies and Kiwis, they know what they're doing, they've excited the local industry in Taranaki, and I think it's a positive step."
